Preschool through High School Sunday School
Jesus’ PLACE (People Learning About Christ Everyday) is our Sunday school class for 3 – 4 year-old preschool children. Children are introduced to Bible stories and learn social skills while participating in story time, crafts, and games. Children attend worship with their parents for the first fifteen minutes of the service and are then escorted to their classroom by a teacher during 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services. Children remain in the classroom until picked up by their parents/guardians after the service.
Our well known and innovative Sunday School is called Disciple Zones. Classes are offered at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for school-age children in grades K-5. Disciple Zones are based on the workshop rotation model for Sunday school. Children experience the Old and New Testaments and United Methodist theology by exploring new workshops each week in drama/puppetry, art, movie theater, cooking, games, storytelling, and computers. K-5 children attend worship with their parents until the children’s message and are then escorted to class by their shepherds. Parents can esily check the Education bulletin board near Chapel Lounge to see which class their child is attending each Sunday.
6th-8th Grade Sunday School
6th through 8th grade students meet at 8:30 and 10:00 to further their faith development. Our junior high curriculum complements the material students learn in our Sunday evening 8th grade Confirmation program.
Senior High Sunday School
Senior High Sunday School is offered Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for students in 9th – 12th grades. Student discussions are Bible-centered, addressing contemporary issues as a way to affirm God’s grace, the teachings of Jesus and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit that is relevant and applicable to a young person. The class is held in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where all viewpoints are welcome and encouraged. There’s food too! Remember to come to class hungry on the 2nd Sunday of every month when students cook and share breakfast together.

Our Children Need You! How Can You Help?
It takes very little volunteer time from every family to make our Sunday School program run smoothly. Take a look at the volunteer opportunities and talk to Karen Burzinski or Lynette Neal to let us know how you’d like to be involved.
Shepherds – The backbone of our rotation style K-5 Sunday school program. Since children are in a different room and with a different teacher every Sunday, shepherds provide the continuity children need. They escort children to class, take attendance, get to know the children and connect with them weekly, and assist the teacher through the hour. There is never any advance preparation for shepherds. Typically requires 1 hour every other week.
Teachers – Sign up to teach one hour three to four weeks in a row. You will receive lesson plans and materials in advance. Teachers teach the same lesson for 3 or 4 weeks to kindergarten through 5th grade classes, modifying the material a little to meet the needs of each age group. Sign up for one or more units of your choice at either 8:30 or 10:00.
Jesus’ Place Teachers and Assistants – 3 and 4 year old preschool students stay in the same classroom all year. Teachers and assistants sign up to teach one month at a time for one hour each Sunday. Lesson plans and materials are provided in advance. If you’re not sure what teaching involves, sign up to assist before giving teaching a try!
Nursery Assistants – Help Ashley and Renee in the Nursery for one hour on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening. No advance preparation is needed. Just come and play with babies and toddlers!
Acolyte Coordinator –Schedule 4th-5th grade students to acolyte at 8:30 and 10:00 throughout the school year. Send reminders as necessary.
High School Students: Serving your church is a great way to get your school required service hours or to earn a glowing letter of recommendation for summer jobs and college!
Parents: It is necessary for everyone to help in order to provide Sunday school for every child.
