Are You Kidding Me!
Pastor Terry Jones from the Dove World Outreach Church in Gainesville, Florida is sponsoring the International Burn a Koran Day on September 11th.  Yikes!  First of all, it’s spelled Quran.  And where in the First Amendment does it say we can burn other religions sacred texts?  General Petraus points out this will put our soldier’ lives in danger.  The Afghanistan is already up in arms over this. And no where, no where in the Gospels does Jesus say burn other people’s holy books.  In fact, Jesus says turn the other cheek when we are offended or hurt.  Jesus preaches peace.  What is wrong with this pastor?

The way we win hearts, minds and souls for Christ is through invitation and conversation.  Burning books, throwing stones and insults harden hearts and lines of conflict.  It seems to me this pastor wants to make headlines rather than resolve conflicts.  May God have mercy on his soul.  I will do my best to deal with my anger at this pastor and this church by praying for them.  May God have mercy on my soul also.
